Temazcal
El Temazcalli (en lengua Nahuatl ) o la 'Casa de la Piedra Caliente' es una estructura en forma de igloo o cuadrada dependiendo la región o país , originaria de los pueblos de América, usada desde tiempos muy antiguos con el propósito de sanación: física, mental y espiritual.
La construcción del temazcal se hace con materiales naturales, tiene una pequeña puerta de entrada, frente a esta se enciende el fuego sagrado a donde se calientan las piedras volcánicas (Abuelitas), que son introducidas en el centro del temazcal (ombligo) y bendecidas con resinas o hierbas y luego rociadas con agua para generar vapor, así el temazcal se nos presenta como el lugar caliente e ideal para sudoración, limpieza de nuestro cuerpo físico, para ir a lo profundo de nuestras memorias , códigos genéticos y emociones.
La ceremonia del temazcal simboliza la entrada al vientre materno. A un nivel más sutil , es una tecnología que imita holograficamente la estructura del campo electromagnético de toda forma de vida y comprende su funcionamiento, donde la energía es ordenada y redistribuida para traer mayor integridad a quienes entran en el temazcal 'La casa de la piedra caliente' es un altar, un lugar de medicina, el vientre de nuestra Madre Tierra , La Casa de las Abuelas, a donde las personas son invitadas a entrar de una forma respetuosa y ordenada, ya que es un espacio sagrado de comunión y profunda conexión con el mundo espiritual, donde se honran todas nuestras relaciones y el linaje familiar, para así hacer un trabajo profundo que traerá una repercusión en la vida de cada uno, siete generaciones atrás y siete generaciones adelante. Pues entrar en el silencio, con el latido del corazón de Nuestra Madre, nos ayuda a recordar y a compartir nuestros rezos, estando ahí somos invitados a resurgir y renacer.
El trabajo del temazcal reconcilia y fusiona los opuestos, el agua y el fuego, y así el Atlachinolli se manifiesta de forma potente y todo lo que ahí participa es convocado a ser transformado. Cuando el agua se quema se evapora y se transforma en una sustancia ligera que posee una frecuencia vibratoria muy alta, este vapor a la vez se nos presenta cómo la niebla que oculta nuestra visión , en lo que esta se disipa comenzamos a ver y comprender la vida de una forma distinta.
Actualmente como humanidad estamos en un momento de revalorizar estas dos energías, para traer el equilibrio e integración entre las dos fuerzas co-creadoras de vida. De igual forma se honra y reconoce el lugar de cada elemento de la naturaleza la Tierra es nuestro cuerpo, el Agua son nuestras emociones, el Aire es nuestro aliento, nuestro intelecto y el Fuego es nuestro espíritu somos parte de algo más grande.
La persona que guía el temazcal debe de recibir una guía profunda en la comprensión de los principios de conexión con nuestra Madre Tierra , así mismo haber pasado por un proceso de iniciación y de profundo autoconocimiento. En la antigüedad este conocimiento era heredado de generación en generación y después de mucho años de servicio. Era entregado de abuelo a hijo y así sucesivamente. Debemos tener mucho respeto por los abuelos que han guardado esta herramienta y este profundo conocimiento.
En el diseño tradicional Lakota, transmitido desde los abuelos de esta tradición los rezos son cantados. En su comprensión estos cantos son herramientas de sanación. Inikagapi Olowan. Ceremonia de "Regreso a La Vida".
En este caso el Inipi tiene una estructura de ramas tradicionalmente de Sauce.

Sweat Lodge
The Temazcalli (in the Nahuatl language), or the “House of Hot Stones,” is an igloo-shaped or square structure, depending on the region or country, originally from the indigenous peoples of the Americas. It has been used since ancient times for physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
The Temazcal is built with natural materials and features a small entrance. Opposite this entrance, the sacred fire is lit, where volcanic stones (Abuelitas or “Grandmothers”) are heated. These hot stones are brought into the center of the Temazcal (the “navel”), blessed with resins or herbs, and sprinkled with water to generate steam. Thus, the Temazcal becomes an ideal warm space for sweating, purifying the physical body, and delving deeply into our memories, genetic codes, and emotions.
The Temazcal ceremony symbolizes re-entry into the maternal womb, a dark and humid space that enables us to connect with our subconscious, bringing forth whatever needs to be seen, recognized, and released. On a more subtle level, the Temazcal functions as a technology that holographically imitates the electromagnetic field structure of all life forms. Within it, energy is organized and redistributed, bringing greater wholeness and integrity to those who enter.
The Temazcal, or “House of Hot Stones,” is an altar, a place of medicine, the womb of our Mother Earth, and the House of the Grandmothers. People are invited to enter respectfully and intentionally, as this is a sacred space for communion and deep connection with the spiritual realm. Within the Temazcal, we honor all our relations and ancestral lineage, facilitating profound healing that impacts each individual’s life, extending seven generations back and seven generations forward. Entering this silence, accompanied by the heartbeat of our Mother Earth, we remember and share our prayers. We are invited to re-emerge and be reborn.
The work of the Temazcal reconciles and merges opposites, water and fire, powerfully manifesting as Atlachinolli. Everything within this sacred space is invited to transform. When water meets heat, it evaporates and becomes a lighter substance of very high vibrational frequency. This steam presents itself as mist that temporarily obscures our vision; as it dissipates, we begin to see and understand life differently.
Currently, humanity is at a moment of revaluing these two energies, bringing balance and integration between these co-creative forces of life. Similarly, the role of each element of nature is honored and recognized: the Earth as our body, Water as our emotions, Air as our breath and intellect, and Fire as our spirit, we are part of something much greater.
The person guiding the Temazcal must have deep guidance in understanding the principles of connection with Mother Earth and must have undergone a profound initiation and self-knowledge process. Traditionally, this wisdom was passed down through generations after many years of service, handed down from grandparents to their children, and so forth. We must deeply respect the elders who have preserved this tool and sacred knowledge.
In the traditional Lakota design passed down from the ancestors of this tradition, prayers are sung. According to this understanding, these songs (Inikagapi Olowan) are healing tools. This ceremony is known as the “Return to Life” or Inipi. Traditionally, the structure of the Inipi is built from willow branches.

La visión y trabajo de la Abuela Vanesa Calderón es producto de su experiencia como acompañante en los procesos de vida y nacimiento. Su temazcal está orientado hacia la integración del Atlachinolli, el 'agua quemada', la cual simboliza la unión del elemento fuego y el elemento agua, los dos elementos sagrados de la creación.
Así mismo, el trabajo con estos dos elementos, simboliza la energía creadora de vida el sagrado femenino y masculino.

Como danzante del Luna en el círculo Madre de México, corrió Temazcales desde su quinto año de Danza. Vanessa ha trabajado esta herramienta desde hace veinte y ocho años en: México, Costa Rica, Estados Unidos (Hawaii y California), Puerto Rico, Guatemala y Suecia.
Grandmother Vanesa Calderón's vision and work is a product of her experience as a companion in the processes of life and birth. Her temazcal is oriented towards the integration of Atlachinolli, the 'burnt water', which symbolizes the union of the fire element and the water element, the two sacred elements of creation. Likewise, the work with these two elements symbolizes the creative energy of life, the sacred feminine and masculine.
The work of the temazcal reconciles and fuses the opposites, water and fire, and thus the Atlachinolli manifests itself in a powerful way and everything that participates in it is summoned to be transformed. When the water burns it evaporates and transforms into a light substance that possesses a very high vibratory frequency.
Currently as humanity we are in a moment of revaluing these two energies, to bring balance and integration between the two co-creative forces of life, a vision that is also used to support women in the process of pregnancy.
As a dancer of the Mother Moon Dance circle in Mexico, she ran Temazcales since her fifth year of dance. Vanessa has worked this tool for twenty-eight years in: Mexico, Costa Rica, United States (Hawaii and California), Puerto Rico, Guatemala and Sweden.

El Temazcal fue entregado a Jorcelda en su sétimo año de Danza por la Abuela Vanessa Calderón . La siembra del Espacio Altar del Temazcal en la finca en Cocles fue en el año 2021.
Con este linaje recibió la instrucción de 28 abuelas piedras, 7 piedras en cada puerta. Ha tenido la instrucción e integración del diseño del trabajo de Temazcal gracias a la abuela Vanesa Calderón.
Su rezo y misión es facilitar un espacio seguro donde a travez de la guía y la instrucción de este linaje el trabajo personal ocurre.
El altar de este espacio en esta zona es ofrecido especialmente para Danzantes en su preparación a la Ceremonia de la Danza de la Luna y a las personas que quieren comenzar a apoyar esta Comunidad de la Danza.
En esta ceremonia Jorcelda se acompaña con el uso de las hierbas medicinales de la zona y a su conocimiento extenso (gracias a sus años en terapia como terapeuta holística); incrementando así el bienestar a través de estas herramientas y poniéndolas conscientemente al servicio del espacio y las personas que asisten al Temazcal.
Es un servicio a la comunidad y a las personas que sientan el llamado, con el propósito de Honrar a nuestros ancestros y a todas nuestras relaciones.
The Sweatlodge was given to Jorcelda in her seventh year of the Moon Dance by Grandmother Vanessa Calderón. The Temazal was first established in Cocles Puerto Viejo in 2021. The design & instruction of this Temazcal is based on the the work of his Grandmother Vanessa Calderón.
He has had the instruction and integration of the design of Temazcal's work thanks to grandmother Vanesa Calderón.
Her prayer and mission is to facilitate a safe space where personal work occurs.
Her work is supported by her extensive knowledge of the local medicinal herbs and her backgroud as a Holistic Therapist.
This space is offered especially for Dancers in their preparation for the Moon Dance Ceremony and for people who want to start supporting this dance Community. And at the same time it is at the service of the Communities, to the people who feel the call of this medicine with the purpose of honoring our ancestors and all our relations.

Su rezo y misión es poder generar espacios donde las mujeres puedan sanar y volver a unirse en paz y armonía. Trabaja ritos de paso para volver a honrar la primera luna de las niñas en Temazcales de iniciación, junto a su compañero de vida ofrecen temazcales mixtos para el equilibrio y sanación del sagrado femenino y masculino.

En el año 2023, en su séptimo año de Danza, recibe los cahuastles como parte de un proceso que ha venido caminando de manera constante y comprometida dentro de la Danza de la Luna, siempre sostenida por su linaje y la guía de las Abuelas del círculo.
En acuerdo con la Abuela, continúa transitando este lugar con respeto, permitiendo que la responsabilidad y el significado de este rol se vayan integrando poco a poco, con conciencia y humildad.
En febrero de 2026 se realiza la Siembra de Temazcal, un permiso que le es otorgado dentro de la tradición después de años de preparación, disciplina y cuidado en su camino.
La siembra se asume como un compromiso de servicio hacia esta medicina y hacia la comunidad, procurando resguardar sus formas, su respeto y su propósito original.
Su intención es acompañar y cuidar un legado que ha sido transmitido de generación en generación, honrando la memoria de los orígenes y los principios de orden, equilibrio y respeto que sostienen la vida.
Desde ahí, su caminar busca sostenerse en la coherencia, la responsabilidad y el servicio, recordando que este camino se aprende y se profundiza cada día, tanto dentro como fuera del espacio ceremonial.
In 2023, during her seventh year of Danza, she received the cahuastles as part of a path she has been walking with consistency, commitment, and care within the Danza de la Luna, always supported by her lineage and the guidance of the Grandmothers of the circle.
In agreement with the Abuela, she continues to step into this place with respect, allowing the responsibility and meaning of this role to integrate gradually, with awareness and humility.
In February 2026, the Temazcal Planting takes place, a permission granted within the tradition after years of preparation, discipline, and integrity in her path.
This planting is held as a commitment of service to this medicine and to the community, with the intention of preserving its forms, its respect, and its original purpose.
Her intention is to care for and honor a legacy that has been passed down through generations, holding the memory of the origins and the principles of order, balance, and respect that sustain life.
From this place, her path is guided by coherence, responsibility, and service, remembering that this is a path that continues to be learned and deepened each day, both within and beyond the ceremonial space.
